Photo-Op

I am not sure why, but recently, in the last few years I have Really REALLY gotten into taking pictures. And in the last few months have really gotten into editing my shots. I was looking the other day, and realised that my "portfolio" is 100 pics strong now!! I cannot believe it!! My sil was teasing me the other day, about doing it on a more "professional" basis...I don't know that I ever will or would...But it might be kind of fun to be able to offer that service to family members at the very least!!

I have been camera shopping for the past few years, and I *think* that I finally found one I am just in LOVE with!!
This one..Canon EOS Rebel T2i - digital cameraThe Cannon EOS rebel T2i. It's beautiful!! But it's also pretty pricey!! But someday, someday it will be mine!!

Even Sam, the Wonderful Husband that he is, offered to find me a trial version of Adobe Photoshop to try out, and even promised me we could look into getting it when we get a new computer...Now that folks is true Love!! Geesh, he is stinking Awesome!! I love that he is encouraging me with this hobby, but not pushing me to make it a lucrative one...But I know that if I should ever choose to do so, he would be nothing BUT supportive!!

But the very best part, is that I have 2 awesome friends that have agreed to let me do shoots for them, their families/kids!! Yay!! And my 1 friend is even lettin me borrow her Awesome camera since all I currently have is  "point-shoot"...SO THANKS V!! Love Ya!! Hope you still love me when I am done, and I hope the pictures turn out o.k. too!!

CSA!!

So, my local mommies group is joining a local CSA. We are going through Tanaka Farms, and I couldn't be more excited!! I wish that we weren't moving away so soon, but I guess I will just have to make 2 trips a month in now is all!! It's actually one of the most reasonabley priced ones that I have been able to find...only $20/ small box and $30/ large box! Heck Yea!! I am really excited to be able to expose, and try some new fruits and veggies...things that I might not buy usually. For fear of "not liking it"!!  So, here it goes!!

Mud Bath Queen!!

Delilah Rose,

Someday, when you are a teenager and driving me batty....I am going to pull out this picture...Most likely while you are preparing for a date, or the prom...just so I can be reminded that you were once upon a time a sweet little mud-faced cutie...and I shouldn't murder you while you sleep!!
Love,

Mom

It's Apple Picking Time!!

So, it's been hotter than hades here lately, and Eva and I came up with a simpley smashing idea...we were going to Yucaipa to pick apples!! Yup, that's right folks, we went picking apples in 100 degree weather, AND lived to tell the tale!! But in all, it was really fun!! We made a "girls" day out of it, and let Ed come along just for kicks!! So, in the end it was Eva, Ed, Me, Meghan and Molly. I left Sam at home with the boys, and Lilah...They needed some Daddy/Lilah time anyway!!

So, we made it in one piece, and the girls were so excited to go. While I have been, my kids have not. It was a awesome experience for us all. We picked Apples, Strawberries, and Raspberries...or Snozzberries as Molly called them. She wasn't excited about the prospect of the rapsberries, but she LOVED the idea of picking Snozzberries..like in Willy Wonka!!

Tutu's and Fru-frus!!

Tutus and fru-frus!! Oh my!

Tutus and fru-frus!! Oh my!

Well, it was a "tutu" of a day!! Seriously!! It was!! We started out our day with a rush to Target for cute t-shirts, combs, bobby pins, shampoo, conditioner, and shine spray. All of this was in preperation for the girl's "tutu" photo shoot. I had the most awesome opportunity to have my girls participate in a Free photo shoot for a semi local photog. I say "semi-local" because..well she was about 45min away from me!! It was Definetly worth that drive though.

So, this photographer Rhonda was looking for models for a Tutu Photoshoot, she was offering the session for free to anyone who volunteered their child(ren). So, I put all 3 of my girls in. They had a blast!! They also looked freaking Awesome, as well. I have to say that if/when Sam and I ever get our acts together and get our "retro-themed" family pictures done, I am totally calling Rhonda to take them!! She was so kicked back, and calm. It made all the difference, especially with Molly. Meghan and Delilah usually warm up to people prety quick....but Molly takes a bit...she was so cooperative. I have to admit that I was a bit shocked!! Delilah was awesome as well, it does help that my girlies are used to being models for me to take their photos, and they love to have their picture taken!!

I am oober excited, we are getting a copy, with a release of all the photos. I cannot wait to see them. Rhonda, being the awesome lady she is txted a picture of Molly to me, and I was totally blown away! I cannot wait to see the rest!!

Working Out is Hard to Do

Seriously!! Working out is killing me!! Every time I think it cannot get any harder, it does!! Geesh! O.k., I am done whining!! But in all seriousness, I am actually working out, and giving it my all, and hoping to Finally see some awesome results!! The working out part is not what's oober hard for me, it's the rest...it's the eating right, getting enough rest part that kills me. But I have to admit that all this actual working out has been making me really tired at night..so that is a win!! I am already down 3lbs, and I think that I can already see some results. I am even working out with  Personal Trainer...O.K., so it's Jenny..but as of Today she is a certified PT!! So it's Legit!!

I was a little bit nervous to do this..I know that Jenny is a Gym-aholic...but I am not. I try and work out regularly..but with 5 kids it's a bit tough. I had been doing really good, until the kids got out of school...then it just abruptly stopped. It's too darn expensive to take all 5 to the child care!! So, this is a good thing. We are working out 3 days a week right now, I am thinking that I wouldn't mind trying 4 next week just to see how it goes...hoping that I would be able to hack it...Jenny seems to think I can...I am not so sure however!

But I am optomistic, and am going to keep going. And my goal is that even after Jenny moves, to keep it up. To maintain my working out. I think that I might even like to try and take a pilates or yoga class at school again...I am not sure if I will be able to...but it would be fun to try. Here's to keeping up with all the hard work. Wish me luck!!

It's been a bad day!

It has been the week from hell. Sorry for all you that read...please pardon my "french"!!

I just received the BEST text mesage ever!! It baffles my mind how thigns work sometimes. I was having a crappy ass day, and my friend sends me the most beautiful text messge. It's not often that one of those silly chain messages, can actually be just what you needed to hear!!

So, I just had to share. I hope it will always remind me that I am important, and truly loved. So, Thanks Friend...I *think* you know who you are..If not then I am not being a very good friend!! I am sorry!! I will do better!!

I heart The Used

I love The Used. I don't know what it is about them, they just speak to me. I was having a rough night, and when I opened my blog this was the song in the Que. Talk about kismet!! The lyrics just made my heart feel at peace. It brought such comfort to my soul. Thanks to the guys in The Used!!

On My Own by The Used

See all those people on the ground
wasting time
i try to hold it all inside
but just for tonight
the top of the world
sitting here wishing
the things that I've become
that something is missing
maybe i,
but what do I know

and now it seems that I have found
nothing at all
i want to hear your voice out loud
slow it down, slow it down
without it all
I'm choking on nothing
it's clear in my head
and I'm screaming for something
Knowing nothing is better than know at all

On My Own
On My Own
On My Own
On My Own
On My Own
On My Own

without it all
I'm choking on nothing
it's clear in my head
and I'm screaming for something
knowing nothing is better than knowing at all

On My Own

But for now I am just enjoying myself, taking pictures and making them into something super awesome! Check out my "portfolio" on my Facebook. I just can't stop adding!!

Photo Editing and My Portfolio

So, I love to take pictures..especially of my kids, my kids with their friends..whatever. I am not particularly good at it, but I enjoy it just the same. However, I like to think that I am more than just o.k. at taking a photo and editing and enhancing them. I love to look at professionals blogs, or proof sets. I get the best ideas for what I would like MY pictures to look like. So, I am creating a portfolio of sorts with all my edits..let me know what You think...look "professional" and stuff? Oh, and I just wanted to add that all these photos were taken By Me, and edited By Me. The photos have various dates that they were taken, but the edits were done within the last couple of days...mostly today/tonight because I am up..why am I up? Because Sam is in ID; but that is a whole different post! Enjoy my portfolio. Oh, and what do you think of my "water mark"? All the photogs are doing it!!

Blog-Stalking

O.k., so this is about more than just the "normal" blog-stalking..it's about "etsy-stalking"too! So, I love to look at all the different shops that etsy offers, I follow a few friends who have their own, and am always inspired by what I see and find. So, is it bad..wrong of me to take that inspiration and do it my self? I am NOT talking about totally jacking what someone has posted for sale and try and sell my own..I mean like I see something for sale that I love, and think I could make myself, for myself..or o.k. let's be honest here for my chickens...is that stealing? I have no intention of reproducing anything exactly, I would only lke to take the "idea" and run with it!

For example, I saw these AMAZING applicade towels for sale, they were like $23.00, now maybe with 1 stretching for 2..it *might* be doable...for me at least..but I have 5..that's alot for towels! So, I got to thinking...what if I got some oober nice, soft towels and did it myself for my chickens?? I know that at the very least my little ones would love it, I think that depending on what I picked fabric wise my older ones would be ok with it, and best of all...there is not "towel-confusion" while at the pool, friends house or where ever!

So, back to my original question...is it wrong? I don't think it's really going to stop me either way..I was just more curious as to see what the "masses" thought! I honestly feel that as long as I am not trying to sell them for a profit, and if/when I were asked I gave the appropriate credit..I don't see the problem. Isn't the purest form of flattery to be copied?

Food

So, I am trying really hard to cook more from scratch, and come up with creative, fun things to feed my brood...tough to do considering..well Sam is one of the pickiest eaters I know, and then there are the food aversions that both Caleb and Molly have...so it's been an interesting adventure. Tonights newest treat is home made meatball subs. I have never made my own meatballs before...I am just hoping that they taste ok. So for your culinery pleasure.. I present Home Made Meatball Subs and broccoli.

So, this year I did not really get the kids "Easter" outfits persay...the girls all got new skirts courtesy of Grandma Karyn and Char over at Crap I've Made and her simply Wonderful tutorial. They all cordinate but don't necessarily match... same with the boys. They just kind of compliment the girls. Sam could be said for Sam and myself as well. I got a new skirt, agian Thanks Mom!! And Sam, just wore a brown polo to compliment what I was wearing!! We all looked fabulous!! I am going to have to take a family picture..because I don't believe we got one on Easter...hmmm. So, we did Easter at Mom/Dad's..they kids had a blast!! They got to dye eggs, make a cute cupcake bunny out of a ice cream cone, and hunt for easter eggs.

Potato-Hoes

That's right, I said Potato-Hoes!! Sorry, inside joke! I just don't think it's going to have the same effect ( uncontrollable laughter) if I try and explain it here. So, in case you didn't get my play on words, we are in Idaho for the week...we left Sunday night and arrived late Monday morning. We actually made really good time. We even made a detour in Utah to have lunch with Grandpa Andes, by the by..Thanks Dad, it was oober yummy!

So, we met up with Tim and Jodi at a RV dealer in Draper, they were looking at a new 5th wheel. We went from there to dinner at Golden Coral..SOOOO much better than Chuck-O-Rama! Oh my lemons!! Kind of reminded me of Home Town Buffet back home. We then headed "home". Lucky for us, we hit a HUGE storm on the way!! It seemed like we were driving through a blizzard to this Socal girl!! I don't think it was quite that bad, but it was pretty nasty just the same. The kids were so excited the next morning to wake up to snow. They could not wait to get outside and play!! Even Sam had a lot of fun playing in the snow.

We kind of played it low key on Tuesday. Sam, Tim, and all the "older" girls went into town to get supplies to build a chicken coup, and stopped on the way home and picked up about a dozen baby chicks. They (the chicks) are super cute!! And the kids just cannot get enough of them. The boys and I along with Jodi and Anikin just hung around the house and cleaned a bit. We made dinner, and watched a movie before bed while the kids played. It was nice to just lay around and relax a bit!

Then there was today...Tim and Jodi went to pick up their new trailer, and Stephen went along to "help" with the kids, so Sam and I took the rest of our brood to do a little off roading. And what a adventure that was!! So, we got Tim's Rhino loaded up into their trailer, attached it to the back of my Denali and headed out. We ended up in a National Park...I cannot for the life of me remember what it was...grrr!! So know that we are in the right place when we see a bunch of trucks with trailers parked off the side of the road..but we thought we would head a little further down...Suckers!!!
That's when things got interesting!! We got totally stuck in the snow!! It was pretty thick, but underneath was not only ice, but tons of mud! Yes, I completely freaked out! But, I didn't scream, yell, or cry. I kept my composure on the outside while I was crying hysterically on the inside!! I did help get us unstuck though!! I even drove the Rhino out all by myself!! Yup, I off-roaded all by my self!! Sam was so proud!!
Once we got the truck out, and turned around, Sam drove out with Caleb and the little girls, and Meghan rode out with me. Sam parked the truck with everyone else, and just took the kids around where all the trucks were parked...it was sooo muddy!! But we all had so much fun, Caleb even had a blast! He and Sam almost rolled and he just giggled the whole time.

We (Sam and I) took the little girls for a ride when we got back to the house, just from Tim and Jodi's house down the looooong driveway and back a few times. But the best park was that Delilah didn't want to get out!! She was loving it!! She held on all by herself and everything. She just giggled and yelled, "weeeee" the entire time. I didn't take it very fast with her, But we really got on it with Caleb and Meghan with us. Sam even put Molly in the "bed" and took both girls for a ride. Highlight of their day!!

Thus far, it has been an awesome trip. I think that we definitely need to make this a annual type of thing!! Don't know if I would come up in the snow again, but you never now!

Chicks Man!!
These are the baby chicks that Sam,Tim, and the "big" girls picked out!! So cute!!

Lil' Miss Delilah Rose...off roading with Daddy. I am not too sure if she enjoyed it... what do you think??

Miss Molly, This was her in the "bed" of the Rhino, and Delilah sat up front. They were having so much fun...just in case you already couldn't tell!!
